Pilates for Buff Bones®

pilates-for-buff-bones-300x55I am pleased to announce I will be the first studio in North Carolina to offer PILATES FOR BUFF BONES®, a unique and dynamic full body workout that focuses  entirely on bone health integrating safe bone-strengthening and balance techniques and offers a full-body workout.

According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation 10 million people have osteoporosis and 34 million are at risk with its precursor osteopenia. Estimates suggest half of women over 50 and one in four men will break a bone due to osteoporosis. This accounts for two million broken bones which will most likely affect the hip, spine, or wrist. According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, 60% of individuals who fracture a hip cannot walk without assistance a year later.

PILATES FOR BUFF BONES® can help!

Exercising is one of the most important things to help retain and strengthen bone. However, if you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, some movements such a forward bending could actually induce fractures. It is key to find the right program to be safe and effective and in line with your physicians guidelines.

Bones get stronger and denser when you make them work - work which includes weight bearing, resistance and high and low impact exercises. Improving balance is also critical to prevent fall which may result in a fracture.

PILATES FOR BUFF BONES® is a precisely designed flow of bone strengthening exercises that target the butt, hips, arms and back and aid with posture and alignment. It focuses on deep abdominal and pelvic muscles to stabilize the core to provide better support for the spine and bones that may become brittle and strengthens back and shoulder muscles to elongate the spine and strengthen the hip and leg muscles to improve balance and flexibility.
